Mirth Control Comedy Club Bookers
Mirth Control is the largest independent comedy booker in the UK, currently booking comedy shows into more than 80 venues nationwide. We endeavour to make the perfect line-up for every night of comedy by making sure that the line-ups offer diversity, originality and big laughs.

To make every night a success we use our database of over 1,000 comedians (from all corners of the globe) to maintain quality and to ensure that different comedians are on the line-ups every season, keeping things fresh and exciting. With Geoff out there playing gigs across the UK and abroad we are able to stay in touch with who is hot and spot the new talent fast.

We are dedicated to finding and supporting new talent, not only by supporting competitions such as the BBC New Comedy Awards and "So You Think You're Funny?" for Channel 4 and The Gilded Balloon, who have both held regional showcases in our venues, but by placing a strong emphasis on breaking new acts through our clubs. Perrier Nominee (and TV presenter) Jimmy Carr, for example, did his first ever paid gig for Mirth Control (Plymouth).

We also offer comphrensive back up, which includes poster design and production, forwarding of show details to national/local press and UK comedy websites for "What's On" pages and even stage, sound and lighting if required at the venue.

A Bit About How It All Began

Mirth Control Comedy was founded by comedian Geoff Whiting, in 1997 when he was asked to book his first comedy night in Plymouth. Eleven years on we are now responsible for booking comedy in over 80 venues across the UK as well as five overseas.

Geoff is possibly the only person in the country working in all areas of the comedy industry; comedy club booking, corporate entertainment, casting for TV and Radio, and personally performing stand-up, offering his clients a unique and rounded perspective on the business.
